Expert opinion on descent
Paternity tests
In contrast to women, men cannot always be absolutely certain whether a child really stems from them. Modern human genetics has rendered it possible for some time now to obtain certainty on paternity. IMMD will support you with the entire know how of a reputable diagnostics institute.
You may choose between a
- Expert opinion admissible in court, gross € 500.--, which provides not only the detailed opinion but also the proof of sample identity requested by court,
or a
- Scientific expert opinion, gross € 220.-- for 2 or 3 persons (standard test). In case the samples are taken at our laboratory, the price amounts to gross € 200.--.
Even though the scientific expert opinion may be regarded as equal to the expert opinion admissible in court, with regard to how the test is conducted and the test outcome, it cannot be recognised by a court. Such a purpose requires the proof of the identity of the samples in accordance with the form called "Record on Sampling and Proof of Identity" (see Price Table).
The prices comprise all costs of material and analysis of a test unit, consisting of at least two (alleged father, child) and a maximum of three (alleged father, child, mother) samples.
Some two weeks after the receipt of the samples, you will receive the expert opinion, which excludes paternity with 100% certainty
or gives proof of the paternity with a probability of 99,999%. The test is based on the analysis of 15 genetic markers.
In case the sample of the mother is missing, the exactness of the test results will be reduced.
Analysis of relationship
The analysis of relationship comprises the test of alleged relationships, possibly without including a parent (for instance, proof of siblings).
For such an analysis of relationship, please contact our Institute directly. We will consult to you on the relatives to be included and determine the scope of the test. Then you will be sent the respective contract.
Analysis of traces
This is a DNS analysis with the aim of allocating a trace (for instance, blood) unambiguously to a person. In accordance with the analysis of relationship, you may also request an expert opinion admissible in court. Generally, the samples have to be from secretion (for instance, saliva or blood), tissue (for instance, hair roots) or materials with attached secretion or tissue. Every sample needs to be packaged separately in plastic foil.
Please contact our lab in advance.
